I very rarely post on here, but I am now co-chair of CA DSA and felt like I should share/celebrate!

Turning the Golden State red is no easy feat, but it doesn't get easier the longer we wait. Let's start now, together!

Nadler is old, but at 78 he isn't even the 10th oldest Dem in the house! He's #19

The oldest five Dems in Congress, Maxine Waters, Steny Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, Jim Clyburn, and Danny Davis are all running for re-election except Davis, who is the youngest of the bunch at only 83
NEWS: Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler, 78, will not seek re-election

I voted for the measure to endorse Prop 50 and I think it ultimately comes down to a political difference in outlook. For me, fighting fascism, even if that could technically help Democrats, and solidifying DSA as a leader in the anti-fascist coalition rather than just a spectator, is most important
not to be a sectarian but certain caucuses opposing Cali DSA supporting reciprocal gerrymandering are really proving yet again they are not serious about power

I am proud to have supported Nithya in 2020 and 2024 and I will be proud to support her re-election in 2028
Why is the rent so damn high in LA? Simple economics: the demand for housing is extremely high and our housing supply is extremely low.

My friend Mattie wrote this excellent piece for California DSA about how @dsa.la has fought back against the fascist incursion into our city
This part in the end has stuck with me. Only socialism can truly beat fascism

this is impressive because it not only misunderstands the dynamics of the race but it also gets the definition of “bread and circuses” wrong *twice*

Just a reminder that no matter what he does with redistricting (which I'm supportive of, fuck the Republican Party), it still is and will ALWAYS be fuck Gavin Newsom

That man will never be President and has done truly horrible things just to get 10% in Iowa

I love this creativity and technology. A solar powered train. I’d love to have that here in the United States. A great step forward for Australia.

It has underfunded our state while exacerbating our housing crisis and wealth inequality! It has also become very much a third rail that most politicians are unwilling to touch despite its increasing unpopularity and the increasing severity of its consequences.

Just amazing, masterful stuff
everything bad in cali comes back to prop 13
pretty sure the ultimate answer is prop 13 actually

Wish those Democrats would support a 4 day work week for the general populace!!
Talking to some congressional insiders, it does sound like Democratic electeds, especially Senate, are incredibly opposed to working not only on weekends, but on Fridays.

A massive energy disconnect between the base and electeds, and sad to see during authoritarian consolidation
Not a word about this from Democratic leaders today

Senators AOC and Sarahana Shrestha by 2030 please
oh woof according to the Siena poll it's not just Schumer whose numbers have taken a nosedive thanks disproportionately to angry Democrats, it's also Gillibrand

Because he sucks and isn't even in the top 5 of best choices for either a 2028 Dem presidential candidate OR president (these are different but interconnected choices)
Why does everyone praising Newsom feel the need to add that that they don't especially like him? There's a freaking rapist in the WH and fascism is taking root. We need someone with cajones, smarts, and the willingness to harness power. It's not a popularity contest, people.
