I think Brexit was an exception though. I don’t recall the BBC trying to find that lone voice for English republicans when the royal family is discussed or Irish republicans during the troubles. False equivalence for Brexit was a way of pushing the Brexit agenda - making it seem reasonable.

I would also consider joining the euro and Schengen. The members of both seem to be thriving.

Too many Rejoiners try to skirt around Freedom of Movement. Seeing it as a weak point in the argument for rejoining. This has failed. We need to make FoM our number one demand and take it head on.

I think a lot of red tape concerning customs would disappear, though, wouldn't it? Also, another advantage of being in a customs union would be that the UK would benefit (again) from all the free trade agreements the EU has with other countries around the world. That's not to be sniffed at.

Not sure Treasury staff get to adjust pensions. That's a decision taken by politicians. Our state pension system has never to my knowledge, been based on a direct relationship between money paid by working people (taxes, NI) and pensions paid to the retired. They are paid by those working today.

Total lie about the EU Commission President and great coming from a guy no-one has elected but served in Trump's administration and interferes in politics in many other countries around the world. Has anyone checked that he's not just a malfunctioning robot?

Great to get advice on bias in the BBC from a guy who worked for the conservative party, Murdoch, the Daily Mail and was the founding chairman of GB news. Give me a break.....

I wonder who "his people" are? Clearly not the majority of white people who are not nazis. Maybe a subset or ethnic minority of creatures who crawl out from under stones at regular intervals to irritate the rest of us? In which case, maybe extinction is not a bad idea....

Not publicized much at the time in the UK but the EU won the Nobel peace prize in 2012 in recognition of its primary purpose to prevent war between EU member states for the first time in European history. Maybe alongside poppies we should fly the EU flag on November 11.
