Andrew Nelles and I recently set out for Zimbabwe to learn how United Methodists were recovering from a splintering in the UMC amid a restructuring in the denomination. Along the way, we also learned the story of the church’s legacy of liberation in a post-apartheid nation.

This makes 1000% sense to me.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."
Record Numbers of Younger Women Want to Leave the U.S.
The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

👀 a possible Hybrid General Conference.

I've been saying we need to update the BoD with hybrid conference provisions AND create a dedicated commission for a possible Hybrid conference!

Folks have rolled their eyes at this but now it's happening and we aren't prepared.

I think this is the question Democrats are gonna get over and over: if you just handed over your main demand in the end, why cause a painful shutdown at all?

Governing is more than politics, but wild to see this group of Dems arguably toss the whole party under the bus, *politically* speaking.
How do you make this your central demand for 40 days and then just let it go
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.

If I had a senator who cared about their constituents I'd be lighting up their phones. Unfortunately Florida has all Republicans. If you've got even one democrat senator make a call for those of us who are hopelessly un-represented.
You can pull up 5calls.org enter your zipcode & get a walk through with phone numbers to call & a script! It took me less than FOUR MINUTES to call my Senators!

Here's what America has become. Don't look away.

We have choosen to create hell on earth and ignore the impacts or in some cases celebrate them.

We must end these gross and morally bankrupt attacks on human beings. No one deserves this treatment. People need to be held accountable, top to bottom
WARNING: The violence and cruelty is hard to watch, but impossible for families to endure.

This is a sickening example of Trump and ICE's blatant disregard for humanity as they terrorize our families and communities.

It is shameful, cruel, and it must end.
