NEWS: The FAA late last week cleared Boeing to begin the next phase of its 777-9 cert process, focusing on system demonstrations, two people familiar tell TAC. Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) 2C is the fourth phase of the cert program for the 777X which started in July 2024.

The @wsj.com is a fine publication filled with some of the world’s best journalists. It was a team I was honored to be a part of. But calling this “Exclusive” while citing our “earlier reported” work on paragraph 14 is self-important, unprofessional and most importantly inaccurate.

This story was interesting for two reasons:

As a pilot, I found Garmin's effort to fundamentally change charts super interesting for safety.

As a journalist, there are deep strategic implications with this product launch as the company looks to expand services revenue.
