Democrat Adam Gray has flipped CA-13 from red to blue, winning by just 187 votes. The House now has 217 Republicans and 215 Democrats, partly due to Trump picking congressmembers for his cabinet. This could end up as 220 Republicans and 215 Democrats, or even lower.

I'm saddened to report that Alberta has passed a gender affirming care ban for under 16s, which would ban puberty blockers and HRT way past the age most experience puberty.

The fast food industry's claim that raising the minimum wage would hurt the economy was disproven in California’s recent wage hike. The adjustment led to higher wages, minimal price increases, and an ongoing expansion of jobs—demonstrating a more balanced outcome.
December 4, 2024 at 10:22 AM
The results of California’s wage increase show that, contrary to industry fears, a wage hike didn’t destroy jobs or cause runaway price inflation. Instead, workers saw tangible improvements, and the industry adapted by maintaining job growth and modest price adjustments.
December 4, 2024 at 10:21 AM
California’s decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hour didn’t have the catastrophic effects the industry predicted. Instead of massive job losses or skyrocketing prices, workers benefited from higher pay, and the industry continued to grow.

The idea that pardons can fundamentally reshape a presidency seems exaggerated. While they may spark debate, they don’t change the course of history or overshadow the broader achievements or failures of a leader's tenure.
December 4, 2024 at 10:21 AM
It's worth noting that past pardons, like Jimmy Carter’s of his brother Billy, or George H.W. Bush’s of his son Neil, didn’t overshadow their presidencies. Similarly, Joe Biden’s pardon of Hunter Biden won’t define his time in office either.

I take writing so f**king seriously—I think that's why I can write about anything. I've written a post every day for the last 15 years. Sometimes, I can't sleep because ideas flood my mind, like a tsunami—I'm standing there with the wind blowing around me. This is no ordinary feeling.

Who else saw the movie about Martha Stewart? I've been thinking about all the damage one man – James Comey - has done to women and our country, and he likely feels zero remorse or has no clue. 😡😡

fondly recalling how after Jan 6 Congress went home for a long weekend, didn't start impeachment proceedings for a week, which then took another month
It took only ~2.5 hrs for the National Assembly to gather a majority of members (190 of 300) and generate a unanimous vote (190 of 190) to vote down the emergency martial law. The law says the president "shall comply" with parliament's vote, but doesn't specify a time frame.
