Writer, Futurist, Inventor. Author of The Murder Algorithm, available everywhere books are sold.

Oh, and I've also had a long career doing fun stuff in the field of Visual Effects (as Eric Wilson).
Did another great show this weekend; Loscon at the Hilton, LAX in Los Angeles. Attendees are really engaged sci fi readers!

Happy Thanksgiving to anyone who sees this post.

I'm grateful for many things, but today I'm grateful that I never gave up, and I keep writing, every. single. day.

I'm also grateful for all the writers out there, because I also read, every. single. day.

Happy Halloween! I dropped the ball this year, I had an Alien: Earth costume (appliance) ready to go (T. Ocellus - The Alien Eye) and then realized I couldn't drive or work with one eye covered and no glasses. Lol.

Happy Saturday! Thinking about the days of week, I wonder how many writers make their stories work in terms of the passage of time? During revisions, I judge how long each event should take, and then try to make the times and days sort of work.

Waymo's self driving cars are significantly safer than human driven, by 70% or more! With that kind of increased safety, will humans even be allowed to drive in the future (other than recreationally)?

In June of 1999, Spielberg invited about 15 experts to a three-day think tank to brainstorm what the future might look like for The Minority Report.

It is so hard to predict the future! For instance, the story (by PKD) had 3 almost magical "precogs." In reality, we will actually have predictive AI.

This fun sci-fi film is being released in AMC theaters in the US on May 9th. Originally in Swedish, it has been translated to English using the real actors' voices, using AI to make their mouths move correctly.

This is groundbreaking, ethical, and highly recommended.

Did you know that the word "robot" comes from the Czech word robota, meaning forced labor, and was first used in Karel Čapek’s 1920 play R.U.R.?

TBH, I was not a part of the Fast world until I worked on this movie with Digital Domain. The crew was great, and the movie (grossing over $1.23 billion worldwide) was more fun than I expected!

Great time at #WonderCon 2025 in Anaheim! Ran into friends, saw a ton of absolutely amazing cosplay, the floor was miles of cool stuff. Met some great authors, editors and publishers.
