It doesn’t matter, she tells herself. This is her last mission. After this, she’ll spend her nights sleeping instead of stalking, and her days? Her days will be for joy.

Her 2024 Nommo Award-winning “A Name is a Plea and A Prophecy” was first published in Strange Horizons and later in The Year’s Best African Speculative Fiction, Volume 3. The story is now technically a novel in progress.

The Ignyte Awards (presented by FIYAH literary magazine) spotlight novels, short fiction, poetry, nonfiction, visual art and community leadership, honouring creators who represent the brightest lights in speculative fiction’s future.
