The U is paying people $800-$1600/hour (that's correct!) to negotiate this deal. They don't seem to be earning their keep!
The University of Minnesota is battling in public with its own physician group and Fairview Health Services, the nonprofit group that owns the U’s teaching hospital in Minneapolis.
U of M blasting new Fairview deal with university physicians as ‘hostile takeover’
The health system and U doctors are announcing an agreement for medical school funding -- a deal the university is rejecting.

This is another reason why everyone should see "When We Were Kings." In addition to having some of the best music footage available, it's a perfect illustration of Blackwashing - led by Mobutu Sese Seko and Don King but with Muhammad Ali, Joe Foreman, James Brown and others as supporting cast.
"Blackwashing" and using Black American entertainers and activists for "cool points" to cover one's atrocities is very much a thing. And before anyone thinks that this exploitation is a Jewish thing (which antisemites LOVE to insinuate), many governments from a variety of backgrounds are guilty.

This will become more common as our labor legal regime continues to collapse. It's a good reminder that unions are created by workers, not the law.

UMN administration has not taken this simple step.
While we do not agree on all issues, I want to publicly thank UNC-CH Chancellor Lee Roberts for clearly stating today in Faculty Council that UNC cannot and will not sign Trump's Compact, because it raises irresolvable issues of academic freedom. That was important for faculty & students to hear.
