Queer romance writer from NZ. Planting trees, living in a van, running marathons. They/them.
Fortunately a work injury means I haven't been allowed to run so my schedule's cleared of cycling and marathon training, giving me a lot more writing time after work. Unfortunately I'm editing so those hours don't correlate with output. Regretting choosing a word count goal over a time goal.

This video is so good that I had to keep pausing it as chunks of poetry rose up from their dusty boxes in my mind.
Now live: : the conversation I need to have. ChatGPT, Gertrude Stein, Stephen King, and the mythy mountain.

4th weekend of 2025 and I'm on track with my goals. I've set up a weekly wordcount total in my writing spreadsheet because I'm aiming for 7k/week rather than 1k a day every day. Just 1063 to write today (Sunday) and I've got a fun scene lined up in my small town friends-to-lovers :)

Wonderful news for me (i.e. everyone invested in my goal of writing 7k a week): I hit the weekend ahead of goal! No need to scramble to catch up 🥰
I've also maintained my 40km weekly running base and 3 weekly gym sessions. Doing so well that I estimate I'm one week away from getting a major cold.

Second Scrambling Sunday when I try to catch up on my goal of writing 7000 words a week. This week is not great: 3901 words to go 😱
Also the laundry, a 9km recovery run and my treat day at the gym where I do all the exercises I didn't fit into the rest of the week.
This is my dream life ngl.

My 2025 writing goal is to write every day, and average 1000 words a day. So today is the first off what I hope will become a weekly tradition: the Scrabbling Sunday, where I furiously try to hit 7000 words for the week.

For a year and a half I've been using a workaround for apostrophes/quotation marks because the key stopped working on my second-hand keyboard. I finally bought a new keyboard, and had the same issue. It's not the keyboard, it's the computer. It took one minute to fix. Deeply embarrassing.
