One of the recurring responses in the 2019-20 consultation-fest we had in Stockport was for an active travel route alongside the railway viaduct over the Mersey valley.

A pipe dream, I thought at the time. Meanwhile, in France...

A story that sums up how British farming has been governed since WW2 - millions in subsidies paid to ruin our rivers with intensive poultry farming, whilst reintroducing a natural species is made so difficult that people are forced to do it illegally and in secret.

At Nantwich outdoor pool. There's something about swimming under an open sky that feels great for wellbeing.

A big step in the right direction but @heidialexander.bsky.social could use better language. The word "subsidy" is apologist. We don't talk about taxpayers "subsidising" bin collections - they're a public service. Talk about the future you want for bus & train, not the mess left by privatisation

This one's so frustrating. Not because of the closure, but because the council dismissed any proposals to properly improve this space for walking and cycling.

Compare the @walkridestocky.bsky.social proposals, developed with a professional highways engineer, with the council's chosen design.

It’s that time of year again

Dynamo lights are just about the best value upgrade in existence for everyday bikes - and they don’t need to be cripplingly expensive

I have a cheap Shimano Nexus hub and B&M front and rear lights. Bright enough for unlit canal paths
