I'm reading David Lynch's Room to Dream and revisiting most of his films as they're covered in the book. This gave me an excuse to pick up a copy of the Criterion Collection Eraserhead. Very much looking forward to indulging later this evening.

I've got a poem in the new issue of The Berlin Review. Kind thanks to the editors for including my work.

ust achieved a sort of holy grail for my book collection - picked up a (relatively) affordable copy of a first edition of Cormac McCarthy's Suttree, what I currently consider to be my "favorite" book. It has some condition issues, but presents quite well. Basking in its glow.

I've taken performative reading to a new personal height by reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's copy of Swann's Way on public transit to and from work.

I am undertaking the project of building a WordPress website for my writing and art. Thus far, I have titled it (The Writing and Art of William Taylor Jr.) and chosen this image as the site icon. I think I'm off to a pretty good start. A satisfying day's work to be sure.

Hey, I just got my contributor's copy of a new anthology of work inspired by William Burroughs, including one of my paintings and an accompanying essay. It features work by a lot of cool folks. If you're a Burroughs fan, it may well be worth indulging in.

I finally got around to listening to Trout Mask Replica. Its reputation for being all but unlistenable turned out to be quite hyperbolic. I mean, sure, it's weird, but it's not THAT weird. After about 3 listens, I'm a big fan. Also, David Lynch claimed it as his favorite album, so there's that.

Apparently, this is my reading selection when I retire to the bedroom super high at 3 a.m.: Leaves of Grass, Bukowski, The (Immortal) Hulk, and (Ditko era) Dr. Strange. I'll stand by it.

San Francisco friends! I'm reading at Martuni's on April 24th, as a part of the Literary Speakeasy's tribute to National Poetry Month. Ain't no better place for a poetry reading than a dimly lit swanky piano bar, lemme tell ya. Come on out!

Watched the Criterion Collection edition of Polanski's Tess last night, haven't seen the film in decades. What a gorgeous piece of work. Easily the best translation of Hardy to film. Polanski understood that the land is just as much a character as the people. Near perfect. .

I did a new Bukowski today, because his face is fun to paint. I worked much faster than I usually do, trying to let myself capture the important things and not get bogged down with minutiae, which I think can sometimes make my work look a bit stiff. #Bukowski #art #artcommunity

Bay Area friends! Next Saturday, the 22nd! My two favorite songwriters are playing a joint show at The Makeout Room. If you're already a fan of either or both, it's a no-brainer. If you're not, I implore you to come out nonetheless, you won't regret it. Literally, my dream bill.
