It's a false economy, a substantial portion of hospital-car-parking revenue will go to policing, security, maintenance, and infrastructure (barriers, lighting, CCTV etc.). Rope in a private company to run it because its beyond the hospital admin and there is no benefit to the NHS.

eligible disabilities (under 60) get free bus travel. Thats a fair proportion of hospital visitors. Free parking is fine for visitors and patients.

I see it as giving people more affordable access to health care. What % of parking income has to go on maintaining and operating the pay to park system....lights, signage, barriers, policing ? The public should respect the fact the parking is there for visitors and patients, not everyone.
