Winston loves:
Batting at any and all strings, or string like objects
Baskets full of fresh laundry
Hiding walnuts in my bed
Putting stuff inside of shoes
Sneaking up on bare toes
And digging in potted plants

99% of the time, squirrels adjust very poorly to captivity, but Winston’s mobility issues have made him less hormonal than a typical adult squirrel. It is a full time job keeping him entertained though, because he still has the energy of a typical squirrel!

Groundhogs are hardly pests. Their burrows later become homes to other vital species including skunks, foxes, and even threatened weasels and amphibians. All that digging plays an important role in soil health, too! They are the habitat engineers of the forest. 👷

Here they are as babies, Fiona on the left and flower on the right. They were brought to me after being orphaned through pest removal trapping.
Poor lil’ Flower got her name because she was sprayed by a skunk before getting here. #squirreloftheday #groundhogs #woodchuck #wildbabies

Even as eyes closed tiny babies they are full of fury! They’re my absolute favorite though, I appreciate the sass 😅

We usually release healthy adult squirrels back on their territory, but decided Danny was safer on our secluded property due to his tendency to chase strangers and love for nibbling exposed flipflop toes 🫣

Baby has some minor talon wounds from the grab. World’s luckiest squirrel and unluckiest hawk!
