Schwarzenegger the environmental campaigner who flys in his own private jet. I know he’s done good work, but come on take a look at his own personal footprint.

Grass snakes and Great crested newts (that ecologists failed to find any evidence of in surveys) were removed and relocated by local people. I could go on and on but this battle is already lost. On the plus side good things are happening in the park, Tom Bellamy seems to be having a positive impact.

In the article they claim pre development that the site was ‘mostly industrial wasteland..’ which is partly true, but this doesn’t make it dead habitat. The Common Lizard population there was huge, most were lost (a few were relocated) Slow worms were completely wiped out as far as I know…

Impact already noticed on the home patch, habitat and species recovery was always going to be tough in an urban environment, but recent temperatures and lack of rain aren’t helping.
