“Trust is so important…when they engage in this kind of deliberately misleading ads, it really breaks trust.”

The Ford government is promoting the Ring of Fire with everything except the Ring of Fire—using photos from Ontario’s beloved provincial parks (where mining is prohibited), Quebec, and even overseas — all to sell Canadians on the idea of mining in the Ring of Fire.

🌎 Next week is #GivingTuesday, but the best time to protect Ontario’s wild places?

Right now: buff.ly/hyTTIte

Bill 5 is stripping away environmental protections, the Ring of Fire is being fast-tracked without truth or transparency, and iconic parks across the province are under threat.

Recently, the Ontario government blanketed the digital sphere, print, radio & TV, w/ ads for the "Ring of Fire”. They were everywhere, including during the Jays playoff run.

We saw them too…so we decided to take a closer look 🔎

What we found surprised us. Dave Pearce, breaks it down here 👇

Claim: The Ring of Fire is supplying minerals for lifesaving tech.

Verdict: Misleading ⚠️

Development is years away (if it happens at all) with:
❌ No investment decisions
❌ No feasibility studies
❌ No proven economic case
❌ No consensus from Indigenous Nations

Are we being played?

We’re launching a new fact-checking series on claims from Premier Ford and Ontario about the Ring of Fire. After weeks of ads everywhere, including during the Blue Jays playoff run, we figured it was time to take a closer look. 🔍

While Ford uses his bully pulpit & taxpayers’ dollars to promote the Ring of Fire, grassroots leaders from Neskantaga, Attawapiskat & Marten Falls are showing there is another way—one rooted in truth, humility & care for the Earth.

“We all survive on this river...It’s meant to be used, not to get destroyed,” says Chief Gary Quisses. As ON weakens environmental safeguards, leaders like Chief Quisses are reminding us what’s at stake—our shared responsibility to protect the land, water & future generations.

It’s #Halloween, but the scariest thing in Ontario today isn’t the ghosts, ghouls or vampires...it’s Doug Ford’s #Bill5. 👻 👹 🧛🏻

While kids go door to door for treats, Premier Ford is opening the door to developers.

“We came in support as an act of solidarity. Our presence was the message: you are not alone. We see you. We hear you. We got your back.”

As ON pushes ahead with plans to create lawless zones to fast-track mining, we travelled >1,100 km to the Here We Stand camp on the Attawapiskat River, a powerful grassroots movement led by youth leader Jeronimo Kataquapit.

This is part of what his parents want Canadians to know 💚

In May, Ontario proposed selling 650 acres, including 60% of the shoreline of #WasagaBeach Provincial Park.

This threatened area is the nesting ground of the endangered #pipingplover, a bird that only recently returned to Ontario after being absent for more than 20 years.
