a very good day to be 37 years old
I cannot emphasize enough, as a rapidly aging millennial, how unthinkable it would have been in 2004 for a Muslim immigrant to be elected Mayor of NYC on the day Dick Cheney's heart finally threw in the towel. We had NO alternatives in 2004, and in many ways, it was a scarier time than even now.

one year ago right now, i was a shaking, anxious mess, clutching the rail at a drive-by truckers show. it was all i could do to stay upright.
now, i’m watching spanberger’s acceptance speech, seeing other results roll in… and feeling a bit of hope for the first time in a decade. my god. finally.

the last time i saw taylor hawkins was four years ago today. it’s absolutely mad to me that it’s been so long, now. always go to the show and always, always love on the musicians who make life a little bit easier for you.

“I was a little broken as a kid, and music was the only thing that drowned out all the chaos I grew up around.”

whew. @bobmouldmusic.bsky.social’s music has been a lighthouse for me for years, now. this interview is thorough and difficult and absolutely terrific.

after a period of ~figuring it out~ that included a lot of closet purges, i’ve fallen into a place where i feel really comfy with my style and excited about putting outfits together. i ordered some clothing that just arrived and there’s several skirts! i was very anti-skirt for a few years there.
