That said, I can recommend the trains which are great and very reasonable.

Ferry to Norway and drive from there would be easier.

Oh dear. I suspect it will be backwards for half the time too.

A good proportion of the World’s population do not use loo roll.

Tin of beans to the windscreen perhaps?
I once got hit by a vehicle in a Sainsbury's car park but the vehicle was quite damaged by the tins and jars in my bag that they shot up in the air for me.

Add on the ~3p/mile for extra VAT (electricity at street chargers is 20% vs 5% at home...)
November 28, 2025 at 11:57 AM
The 15% extra VAT, given my EV gives around 4 miles/kWh on average and the cost of a typical kWh at a street charger is £0.79 gives an "excess" VAT of ~3p/mile already. It's probably cheaper now to buy back my old Chevy Silverado (6.2l V8 Diesel) and run that instead.
November 28, 2025 at 11:55 AM
They do already. VAT is 20% from street chargers.
November 28, 2025 at 11:20 AM
VAT on electricity at public chargers? 20%.
VAT on home electricity? 5%

I cannot have a charger at home so use street chargers.

I am literally paying extra tax for using my EV *already*

Except they did, and do and you did. And probably still do.

If you like these then you should really see the ones at the train station at Vantaa airport. :-)

The US already gave Ukraine security guarantees when it gained independence and surrendered the nukes it had (to Russia) and those have been going so well. What makes anyone think that more “guarantees” would be any use?

So let me get this right…the HoL decided it was unacceptable that someone should be able to argue against their unfair dismissal? Their UNFAIR dismissal.
Right.

It's not even Friday...
November 27, 2025 at 10:25 AM
Bzzt.

It’s quite quite bad enough that we have to endure “Xmas” without adding another random, forced reason for family to talk to me.
November 27, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Bah.
November 27, 2025 at 8:09 AM
But to be serious for a moment, why? What on Earth do they hope to do with this?
November 27, 2025 at 8:08 AM
Not good.
I presume they now refer to Starmer as “idiologically Tory but identifies as a socialist.”?
November 27, 2025 at 8:07 AM
To be completely fair it is a really difficult problem to cut carbon emissions when they are burning all the carbon, so we should really cut them some slack. Won’t you think of the shareholders?
November 26, 2025 at 10:41 AM
Ahh, but did he have a licence for that radio?
November 26, 2025 at 9:19 AM
The space was necessary then so that passengers could accelerate to decent velocities during an airplane crash.
November 26, 2025 at 9:18 AM
I’m pretty sure that none of this is true.
November 25, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Yup, it’s almost as if it was never part of a developing plan but has grown willy-billy, like a mould.
