I’d start by checking with your county to see if you have any cases in your area. And I’d only buy from a reputable source. Primary risks to domestic flocks are migratory waterfowl, rodents, and wild birds. So I’d also make sure your coop is secure and their outdoor space is covered.

I made a post on this topic on TT! As always, go with your gut. I still feel safe raising chickens. Bird flu is always a risk. We’re seeing an increase now but it’s not a new issue in the poultry world. Good biosecurity and husbandry practices will go a long way towards protecting your flock.
