Another great example (along with employer-subsidized health insurance) of how massive welfare programs have been around in the US for a long time... but only for some people (not even ultra rich!).

The best thing I did for my mental health this year was convert some doomscrolling time to finding a local org where I could start learning how to support organizing/political work.
I knew social media distorted perception, but I drastically under-estimated the magnitude of the effect. Un-isolate!
