I had FUN. There was a bit of an erasure of FMC's personality and a few things were definitely unoriginal but I still had FUN.

Neurodivergent, chronically ill AND 30? Pinch me.
This was excellent, despite being just a novella, it was fully fleshed out - would absolutely read more of it.

OI THIS WAS FUN!! Not the most original, but FUN!! The last few chapters were a blur. I love trials and what they do to characters - is that awful?

Loved some, hated some.
The main theme of "dangerous" was heavily watered down, and served as a mass spoiler, tbh.

I’m sorry I just found out that in 1379, as in, 650 years ago, a baby girl was born in Yorkshire and named Diot Coke

history is a fucking joke lmao

Like most of Olivie Blake's books, this was a LOT. Some parts were convoluted, erratic and chaotic, which fit BEAUTIFULLY in the mania narrative.
Holy shit though, may this love NEVER find me.

Well this was depressing (obv) and just a smidge boring, but I did still appreciate the technicalities about London during the plague.

I had a solid good time! I LOVED the gothic atmosphere of the campus, the mystery surrounding the island, the past experiments, the science and biology talk, the autopsies - it felt like an old episode of Xfiles and made for a fast and unpretentious read.

Thank you, New York City. Together we made history.

Buckle in because I have thoughts.
Mild spoilers ahead.
First off, you can't put dragons in a book and use them solely as sentient taxis. That is a sin.
Now a positive: Kaan! Kaan was great. We love Kaan. Kaan is the perfect MMC, even. Kaan was definitely THE highlight of the book.

I always enjoy the Villain and Evie but I wish they'd cut the crap, sometimes.
Lost a few points because things were definitely predictable.

This was so captivating. The depiction of a medieval town, in all its bleakness, without the usual glamour of Fantasy. Add bigotry and religious trauma.

Graphic, brutal, fascinating.
I highly recommend it, if you can stomach the rawness of it - reading of slavery is never easy, slavery from a boy in a brothel is next level.

Better than Bride, Serena is arguably funnier than Misery, and Koen is a basic cookie cutter "I'm an Alpha, I don't take orders, I deliver them", NOT THAT I WOULD KNOW FROM PAST EXPERIENCE, but yknow.
I could have done with a LOT LESS knot sexy talk. And slick. Sorry gc & discord.

A big 'ol meh.
The premise was fantastic, but it failed to keep me hooked as it should have. I was curious about the Norlan Nanny aspect of the story but it was so marginal that it almost didn't matter, which was a disappointment.
