By gathering data on groups often excluded from official EU statistics, we’re creating more accurate, adjusted poverty estimates.

🔎 Why? Because today’s data practices often mask the true extent of need and deprivation across Europe.

📉 Did you know? EU official statistics exclude individuals not living in private households.

Ranging between 1% and 5% they represent a non-negligible proportion of the population, compromising the accuracy of poverty estimates.

Invisible in data = invisible in policy.

Our current understanding of poverty is based on incomplete data and so are the policies aimed to address it.

🧩At WHOCOUNTS, we include those typically excluded from European Union living conditions statistics —those living in non-private households— to fix that.

👋 Welcome to WHOCOUNTS — a new research project tackling a big question: Who is left out of poverty data in Europe, and why does that matter?

We’re here to change how poverty is seen, counted, and understood.
