I despise Trump. I like making things: guitar amps, pedals, woodwork, software, DIY CNC of various sorts, cooking. Twitter account was binned some time ago - hoping for better here. #FBPE. #IStandWithUkraine, #TACO, #TeslaTakedown
I'm a week away from being made redundant from a job I've hated for years. I can't wait. I'm very lucky as I can just retire. The only fly in the ointment is that I just don't know what I'm going to do.

When I was growing up in the 80s, my mother was obsessed with the awfulness of Thatcher. Evenings once spent watching Bergerac turned into a series of depressing news bulletins. BBC1 at 6, Channel 4 at 7, BBC at 9, ITV at 10, then Newsnight. Now I daren't watch any news at all because of Trump.

I'm feeling smug. Our central heating wasn't working, and after much research and cogitation, I'd narrowed the problem down to the mid-position valve actuator. I was contemplating replacing it when it occurred to me that the offending microswitch could be sorted by hitting it. Worked like a charm!

It will probably always be controversial, but I will be hoping that #NZ-W can beat Deepti on Thursday. She's been clear about how she sees cricket, but the way she plays it is not one that I can agree with. That Mankad really is a problem.

A work of 80s genius, but sad to say that Trump makes Reagan look like a genius...

I can't believe Belarus are still accepted into international competition. It's not often I'm supporting the Scots, but I hope they bury Lukashenko's mob.

Mystery finally solved (for the cost of a security camera) - if you look closely, you'll see that this clever burglar is opening the chip-controlled cat flap by pulling it outwards.

To, perhaps, state the obvious, as one approaches retirement as a privileged person, you're forced to think about what you can do with your days that might be useful and fulfilling.

Obviously, Nigel Farago is appalling, but it's beyond belief that Trump makes him look vaguely like a human being (as he clearly isn't). Can we please deport them all to another planet.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... A phrase that has been used quite widely, but I'm pretty confident that in a competition to be the most "economically illiterate" premier, Trump would beat Carney by a distance.

I think Aggers predicted penalties this morning. Great game but hoping England women can show the men how to win a shoot out!

First Musk, then Murdoch. I really hope there is an afterlife - where they all get locked up together.

@espncricinfo.com Why was Deep's "exocet to bowl a well-set Root for 6" the moment of the match when it was a blatant no ball?
July 6, 2025 at 11:39 AM
@millercricket.bsky.social I'm astonished that there hasn't been more commentary about Root being bowled off a blatant back foot no ball. Also, while you've seen the light, can you please sort out a Cricinfo account here so that those of us who've left the dark place can interact? ty

#ENGIND The back foot no ball rule is very clear - it's about whether or not the back foot cuts the return crease "when it lands". Root was bowled off a no ball. Any suggestion that it wasn't a no ball because the foot was not grounded when the ball was bowled is nonsense.

While Charles is mostly harmless and clearly holds no actual power, the concept of a King is beyond outdated. What is still terrifying is the idea of Trump crowning himself in perpetuity to subjugate the American people under his (idiotic) rule. #NoKings

There was an amazing Not the Nine O'Clock News sketch about a Michael Spicer-a-like press adviser who managed to get the the President to say on air "it's incredible, isn't it, that a cretin suich as this could become President of the United States". Trump makes Reagan look like a genius.
June 15, 2025 at 5:29 PM
Is Trump's vocabulary so poor that the only thing he can say about anything is that "they should make a deal"? I realise that the answer to this question is obviously "yes", but it's still amazing that a "world leader" can be so stupid. I'm not with Stupid.

It took me a while to realise that people don't like to be challenged. I once tried to stop a girlfriend from leaving me by saying that I loved her in spite of her flaws. Thankfully, it didn't go down well. Sadly, though, this is why senior managers are so bad at challenging each other to be better.
