Imagine you're walking in Texas, when you glimpse what looks like a black-faced Steller's Jay.

But there's no crest. And Steller's Jays only live west of the Rockies!

What gives??

Turns out that the ranges of Blue Jays and Green Jays now overlap in Texas, and they've made black-faced hybrids: 🧪

Still trying to figure out what happened at the end of the game 😜
but I’m incredibly grateful to all the staff that looked after me and happy to be back home resting now.

What resonates is all the messages, calls, and love I’ve received from so many of you.

The Germans, as usual, have a marvelous portmanteau word for this: verschlimmbessern.

Had a nice day painting tiny Jupiters and now I’m all depressed after opening social media. All the proposed budget cuts to NASA & other science institutions are heartbreaking. I will continue to do my best connecting science + art no matter what. But for now, video games & cider 🫠

“A.I. makes art accessible.” Art has always been accessible. There was like a six month period where I drew all the sketches for my comics with a lined notebook from the grocery store and a random green marker.

In honor of all the new arrivals, I'm sharing one of my favorite videos.

It shows 24 hours of Earth's rotation, with the camera locked to the sky instead of the ground. We're all hanging out on this spinning rock.

Brilliant work by Bartosz Wojczyński. 🧪
