Impressive how the Dungeon & Dragons TV intro introduced all characters and series plot premise within 40 seconds

When I watched as a kid I hadn’t spotted the Health and Safety violations of the amusement park - a portal into another realm halfway round your rollercoaster is just not acceptable!

Ran during the hottest part of the day but it couldn’t be helped! It’s all good. Some beautiful skies today

A few more things to-do and then I’m about ready to konk out myself.

Have a good evening all 👋

In every cheesy good-vs-evil movie (a format the USA have been chief purveyors of forever), after the Bad Guy delivers a withering put-down calibrated to unite the righteous fury of every fair-minded onlooker in pantomime unison, now is the point where the Good Guys deliver a knockout blow -
Donald Trump lashes out at Congressman Jamie Raskin, calling him a “dope,” a “total loser,” and mocking his “ugly face.”

Totally unhinged

My YouTube hot take:

For comments on videos, I would love to have a filter by tone, specifically a ‘witty rejoinders: off’ setting. Do you know what I mean?

I’m referring to those zingy one-liners crafted to a high polish for maximum likes, the pervasive jokey banter…

I’m probably coming across -
a cartoon of homer simpson is holding a newspaper that says old man yells at cloud

To my #MAGACult evangelical Christian relatives who voted for Tr*mp, saying God told them to through prayer, I want you to know I will never forgive you

He was not an 'imperfect vessel' as you claimed, that your deity would work through to do good, and you just had to have faith. You've been played

Waaarm 😅

Happy to have got round for a jog, walked loads of this and I don’t mind for a second, as slow as I thought I needed to go, there was always slower!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday 👋

A plea to the future United States: Restore accountability

Bad people in power doing the worst things and getting away with it will end the American Experiment. Whatever society you have left will be screwed up for all future generations

Sort it out

Yours Sincerely, The rest of the free world

#zxspectrum In the early 2000s I remember queuing up at an M&S shop in London Charing Cross station, where I spotted Sir Clive Sinclair, also getting some lunchtime sandwiches like a regular person(!)

Amazing that when you search for 'shitshow' on Threads/Bluesky, results going back months are almost exclusively* all about the same person or events connected to them

'Believe me', 'people are saying' that someone personifies this word more than anybody else, perhaps the most that has ever been...

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

Word of the Day: _Hubris_ - dangerous overconfidence that invites misfortune

"a form of exaggerated self-belief that disregards limitations, warnings, or the perspectives of others, often stemming from an inflated sense of one's own abilities, status, or power" 🎯

With all the AI-writing assistance and overly polished prose, this actually makes me appreciate 'real' emails and messages so much more

Terse language, formatting maybe a bit broken, a typo or two. This is all good

It cannot just be me who feels a pushback towards PR-speak?

My daughter asked me earlier - what was a classic music track I remember when I was growing up. So hard to choose just one, but I settled on It’s Alright (Baby’s Coming Back). Superlative stuff from Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart

Just look at that iconic album cover. Takes me right back to the 1980s

PSA: The Facebook you want (if you use it at all) has moved in the app to Menu (☰) → Feeds → Friends

The regular feed is borderline unusable now, all this content I don't follow and don't want

That's not what I use FB for, for me it is an occasional quick check to catch up on the people I know IRL

An "I am Spartacus" moment for all federal workers

NOBODY responding to the email is the most powerful collective response they can give. Hold the line
New on MSNBC:

Elon Musk has sent out an email giving federal employees just over 48 hours to explain their job. The actual subject line: "What did you do last week?"

Musk said online that not responding will be considered a resignation.

My reading at present

I know my current running style is not optimal, lots of room for improvement

The thing is when I’ve had time for a run, I’ve just wanted to get out there. Clearing my head mentally has been the thing. -

Two long runs at the weekend, more than usual. This morning - I went for a short run and felt faster and more nimble. Unexpected but I'll take it!

I'm always amazed at the ability for the human body to raise its game when pushed.

Wow - the MIDI data format (defining events for musical instruments to play back) is over 40 years old, still going strong

My votes for the most long-lived computer data formats still in use:

1st place: ASCII* -1963
2nd place: MIDI - 1983
3rd: BMP - 1985
4th: GIF - 1987

(*ASCII lives on as UTF-8)

A core memory: As a teenager I was doing a weights workout in the garage. I was a novice and exhausted, wobbly arms and legs, barbell resting on shoulders after a squats set

I had one press to finish- to clean the bar over my head and re-rack

I just couldn't do it -
