The govt is announcing one cruel decision after the next.

Yesterday they chose to abolish one of the only safe routes.

We need more, not less, safe routes

Starmer proudly announced that 24,000 migrants have been removed from UK since Labour took office. Being tough on migration & increasing the number of deportations affects the most marginalised people, those who have no other option.
When will the message get through that we need safe routes?

Really looking forward to joining this event tonight with Faiza Shaheen and @zoejardiniere.bsky.social - for what promises to be an important discussion about our flawed immigration siren and how it’s letting so many people down.

@migrantvoice.bsky.social conference:
The media vilify & dehumanise people seeking asylum, but miss the impt stories about the cost of migration - from the extortionate cost of visas, the cost or healthcare, the exploitative work practices that the vast majority of migrants are forced to endure.

Happy 15th Anniversary to @migrantvoice.bsky.social
Really excited to be at what looks like a amazing conference.

Refugees make up less than 1% of the UK population.
And guess what: they are NOT the 1% who drain our resources!

We will be repeating this time and again: seeking asylum is a human right NOT a crime.
February 4, 2025 at 3:06 PM
Since July there has been a sharp increase in deportations. It will get worse.

We call for an end to #detentions and #deportations

This Bill will have a devastating impact on migrant communities up and down the country.
February 4, 2025 at 3:04 PM
There was some good news. The #Rwanda scheme was scrapped.
