A question for every fucking idiot that apparently exists in this is country. If this was say a bunch of Serbian Christian football hooligan fundamentalists, wanting to walk down the street of Birmingham chanting anti Muslim slurs? Would you be saying the same thing?

What is going on? British football fans are treated like shit on the continent for the most part (sometimes it’s worthwhile) banning hooligans is a British tradition as much suet pie ffs.

Why are Labour so bad at politics? ID cards were hated in the 00s when everyone was on board with terrorist threats. Now everyone is a right wing free speech conspiracy theorist

These guys at the guardian sports desk didn’t mind being patted on the back by the fascists last year during the Paris Olympics while they continued their hunt of the people who “deserve” bigotry. Now they are surprised we got to this “circus”.
went to windsor in search of trump and discovered - in the absence of orangeface himself - a kind of performance art slam, a circus in which the loudest, weirdest voices compete for media attention, which feels like a pretty good metaphor for where we are

a key reason they see an opening for such a blatant speech crackdown is that they already did one to Palestinian and anti-genocide activists and it got enthusiastic bipartisan approval

Oh my god Helen Lewis of all people talking about midlife crisis radicalisation like she hasn’t spent 12 years encouraging and aiding the far right over the trans debate while being best mates with JK Rowling.
I’m a broken record on this, but — there are so many examples of famous people radicalised by midlife career/personal knockbacks. Ant Middleton was on yday’s march. He got done for tax offences and lost his TV work. Now he’s mates with Tommy Robinson.

I was told Corbyn was holding back the true talent of the Labour Party. This guys are as thick as fucking concrete.

I think one thing I’ve noticed as a distinct thing since austerity (it has got even worse in the last 5 years when people have got even poorer) everyone is just more angry, more willing to argue in public, dislikes their fellow citizens more and more. It makes our towns, cities, villages worse.
