I tried (and failed) to deploy a thing I wanted to try out at home (a self-hosted recipe organizer), because deploying the single container they have a docker run command for results in an error message that it can't find its database.

I don't know what it is with orange juice producers specifically but they have seriously leaned into shrinkflation. Their 64oz containers had already shrunk to 52, now they've reduced them again to 46. Worst part is all of the additional plastic waste to package, ship & consume the same amount.

I think part of What's Going On with billionaires is that the daily friction of interacting with normal people is part of what anchors people to the real world, and once you have enough money to buy your way out of the friction you can knock down a load-bearing column propping up your sanity.

There's this TickyReel going around where some 🤡 makes this cursed excuse for apple "pie" by pouring apple juice into a premade pie crust with flour, sugar & butter. Meanwhile, for Thanksgiving this year, my mom taught me and my niece my grandmother's apple pie recipe, with this gorgeous result.

There's this recent trend in tech articles to title them, "please stop {doing, using} x { for y }" and while I appreciate that it may be discussing a useful alternative to "x", it feels like starting off with "ur doin' it wrong" isn't likely to convince a lot of people.

This is probably one of, if not the greatest thing I'll ever write in my life. I'm also extremely proud of the photoshop.
Yesterday was the first time I've regretted not having a NACS adapter. The only CCS option on US29 between Danville and C'ville is a 2x 50kW EVgo charger in Lynchburg. Half of that was down, so there's a line & they charge $0.69/kWh for said slow, poorly maintained charger. Tesla has 3.

GPT would have been such a great technology if LLMs were just used to augment search engines. Their natural language processing ability means they can find relevant content no matter how you phrase your query. No more keyword matching, just ask a question, or describe what you’re looking for. 1/2

Batocera on RPi4 was a failure (some display issue I can't figure out). While looking for other retro gaming software options, discovered romm.app or retroassembly.com that let you self-host the rom management and emulation goo and then just play in a browser. Seems like the ticket - dump the Pi.
