A magpie sits beside a pumpkin, and connects our friend to us, now in our new home province, Alberta. Magpies also call Alberta home.

Progress has been slow on this piece. Life sometimes gets in the way of what I most enjoy, and what brings me peace.

This is sketched freehand onto burlap. I’m sure others have sketched Pumpkins and birds, but this is my creation and composition. I chose a Magpie instead of a crow this time.

My dad made three of these looms. They sat for many years, as none of the recipients of his handiwork, knew how to use them…until…I was fortunate in meeting a lady who walked me through the process of threading the loom, and weaving on it. This is an Inkle loom.
