I honestly don’t see how you could squeeze another seat out of New York. It’s been run by Democrats for decades, and they’re no fairer with total control than the other side would be. New York’s a bit of a cautionary tale. It’s proof that “both sides” play the same games once they’ve got power.

Not a lot left to do here in New York. The districts are already drawn pretty heavily in the Democrats’ favor.

But at the end of the day the child decides which name follows them, so I don't feel like it's strictly gendered.

I think it would be awesome for girls to take their mother's name with them and boys to take their father's. So my daughter would keep mine when marrying and my son's would take my husband's

Maybe this would work: "In Spanish-speaking countries, people have two last names:
The first surname from dad
The second surname from mom
IE, A man named Carlos García López and a woman named María Rodríguez Pérez have a kid, they would be García Rodríguez. Both sides of the family are represented."

I mean, I'm just a small time lawyer from the sticks, who appears in county courts, city courts, and town and village courts. So what do I know? But I'm pretty sure that if I deliberately and persistently lied to a federal judge, bad things would happen to me.
