Surgeons Gow and Ward, both killed on 13 Nov 1916, serving with RN Division at Battle of Ancre. Their names are the first and second on the Thiepval Memorial! No known graves. Rest in Perpetual Peace.

Honoured to have reunited Surgeon Godfrey Walker RN with the medals he never knew he’d earned. He lies at peace in Hamel Military Cemetery alongside colleagues who were killed with him, tending the wounded.

Fascinating and emotional visit to Robben Island today. This is Tom, our guide. Spent 11 years incarcerated on the Island as a political prisoner, 6 of them in the segregation unit alongside Nelson Mandela. His “crime” - disorder and leaving the country without permission!!
