I’ve an award winning podcast about all that’s weird and a little off kilter in the town of Biggleswade and Bedfordshire. History with a pinch of the paranormal, folklore & urban legends. I also like cake, cats, beating bosses and disability rights.
I took this photo on Saturday of the Biggleswade Flying Saucer Hoax monument. Today there are a fraction of the leaves left on the trees. Winter is indeed coming. The perfect time for storytelling. Remember there was a new episode of Weird in the Wade out this week.

It's my wedding anniversary so I won't be around on the socials today or tomrrow much. It's also St Martin's Day once a big deal (and still is in parts of Germany and northern Europe.) A day of feasting, slaughering livestock, drinking the new wine and gift giving, marking the start of winter 1/2

I love the history of bonfire night, the plot, the plotters, my favourite King (James I and VI) but not so much the anti-catholic sentiment behind burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes, who was a fascinating guy 😉
However you’re celebrating (or if not at all) have a safe night!

I’m in London today for TfL work and then #Uncanny Fright Night tonight at the Royal Albert Hall!
So I thought I’d share some of the pictures I took in Pegnut Wood on Tuesday. Seeing the soft greens of the trees is a balm on the hustle and bustle of London.

Yesterday I visited London to see one of my heroes, poet laureat Simon Armitage read and talk about his latest collection of poems New Cemetry. His poetry has got me through some dark times over the last 35 years. It was brilliant to be in the same room as him. The sunset was spectacular as well.

Remember in the last episode of Weird in the Wade we visited Lincolnshire and I mentioned Threekingham where legend has it that 3 Viking Kings died in battle? Well I visited today and had lunch at three Kings Organic Cafe. I love this tree outside the old pub / cafe.

It’s just over a week until the sold out weird in the Wade live podcast L show about haunted hounds, demon dogs and creepy canines. Bella the pod dog wants to be included but she’s just not spooky enough, she’s far too cute.

Monday’s episode of Weird in the Wade is about “new town.” An area north of Biggleswade which was needed when the town population more than doubled after the great fire in 1785 and the arrival of the railway in 1850. But was something ancient on that land disturbed by the building works?

Yesterday I visited The Higgins Museum in Bedford to hang out with a haunted rocking horse! BBC 3 Counties Radio joined me and what we recorded will be available as a Halloween treat. I'm currently making a couple of episodes about the haunted Higgins which you'll hear early next year!

Today's Uncanny Halloween Countdown story is a creepy one about a phantom car at Clophill! Yes the very same Clophill I made 3 episodes about back in 2023. The site is infamous locally but the strange stories go beyond the church and on to near by roads links below for more info!
