Primary teacher from Glasgow, based in the Highlands. Somewhat of an optimistic realist when it comes to education! Own views, always. (she/her) #edusky

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

Two snow days this week but we made it back in today! Arrived to -8° temperature. Our bell had some tiny icicles and was fairly difficult to ring this morning 😄 Feeling very lucky to be in such glorious surroundings in the winter ❄️ - beats a grey, dark day in Glasgow! 🤭

My wonderful friend Tracy still teaches at my old school. One of my former pupils (who I had in P2 and is now P5) gave her this Christmas card to send to me and I got it in the post today 😭😭 A beautiful card with the loveliest messages and a bracelet she made me. Feeling a bit tearful and grateful ❤️

Well, it sure did snow 😆

We certainly enjoyed World Children’s Day! We started the day with some extra time playing in the snow, then joined Scotland’s Assembly with the Children’ Commisioner, to share our thoughts on climate change, hear from other pupils and think about how we can be involved!

"Gaza had a functioning education system. Prior to October 7th 2023, children in Gaza were attending school."

Palestinian children have been without school for more than a year, and the impact is enormous.

Long-term plans with year-long actions, are often subject to plan continuation bias.

Don't be tempted to continue with plans when circumstances change. Make adjustments, or throw away the plan & start again.

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.

Morning.

This has been the busiest week I’ve seen on social media for a while… in a good way!

If we haven’t met before, hello! I’m Jen, a primary teacher from Glasgow now working in the Highlands in multi-composite P1-7. I’ve sworn to spend more time being present (not scrolling) but I’ll try to keep up!

It’s nice to see some familiar faces appearing here! Twitter was where I felt at home around a fantastic network of educators for so many years - it was incredibly difficult to just walk away, especially into a blank space (which is what Bsky felt like then!) Hoping to recapture some positives! 😊

The kids are trying to convince me they “never learned this last year”.
