Musings, observations, thoughts, disbelief, hope and wonderings.
Astrid Lindgren, Erich Kästner and many others kept what ended up being their war diaries. This is mine.

Title inspiration: "Lullaby for a weary world" - Julia Ecklar
Pinned
Astrid Lindgren, in her wartime diaries, watched the facism in Germany from neutral Sweden and could only muse and share and be grateful for it not happening in her country, while still always being at least afraid. She enjoyed spring days while hate reigned elsewhere.
And so, apparently, do I.

In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

American Police State: Congress has just authorized $170B for ICE (not $37.5B), more than the ENTIRE NATIONAL DEFENSE BUDGET for every country on the planet except China.🤮

Imagine this is you.

You’re locked in a cell thousands of miles from home. No one knows where you are. No charges. No trial. No end in sight.

Rewatching S2E1 of little House on the Prairie. Fiction or not, there are eerie parallels between the hatred in the MAGAverse and the hatred of the confederates. In the end it boils down to hatred because they believe they're entitled to be treated superior. It's revolting.

Ironically, in the coming years, Ron Desantis and Kristi Noem will both become residents of Alligator Alcatraz.

Poor white MAGA voters will support cuts to Medicaid in order to save on “waste, fraud and abuse” the way many Latino voters supported Trump because he was only going to deport criminals.

I hope officers make advance plans for saying “No” to illegal orders.

Recent events make me wonder whether that’s even still part of their training.

Finding myself following the news less and less. It doesn't do much but inform me about things I'd much rather not know about because I cannot change a thing and they're far too depressing. Colleagues seem to talk less about politics as well, just like neighbours and friends.
