I keep seeing Instagram “cyber security” tech people saying to not bring your phone to a protest because cops can identify you in x/y/z ways. Then they say that a faraday bag isn’t enough to block said x/y/z things (stingrays etc). That seems… wrong??? Faraday bags block, like, everything?

I want to be clear: the private sector, as it presently exists, *cannot* quickly spin up to fill any void left by substantial dismantling of #NOAA. Full stop. If that were to happen, people would die in extreme weather events who would not have otherwise, & economy would suffer.

The U.S. #NationalWeatherService, housed within #NOAA, is a truly world-class meteorological predictive service, perhaps singularly so. It costs only ~$3/yr per taxpayer, & yields ~10:1 return on investment--saving economy 10s-100s of billions, not to mention thousands of lives.
Hearing reports that Musk’s cronies are targeting NOAA — infiltrating key systems and locking out career employees.
NOAA is vital for weather forecasting, scientific research and more. Their critical work saves lives.
My team and I are looking into this and we will not stand for it.

In the environmental world, it's very weird to be having conversations about the impact of these executive orders. We can no longer use the words "disproportionate impact" and everything even remotely related to Environmental Justice must be scrapped. Heartbreaking and infuriating.
