Unfortunately we practice the same here in British Columbia. Massive stands of old growth forests are decimated leaving scarred stumps as far as the eye can see. “We’ll replant, no worries.” Spindly trees does not a forest make. It’s heartbreaking. No one listens.

Yes, the West is guilty of totally disgusting double standards in (rightly) condemning Russian atrocities in Ukraine, while ignoring genocide in Gaza.
But with both Israel and the US now actively *supporting* Putin, surely it must be obvious to everyone that it's the exact same fascist supremacism?

On climate protest, a superb point from @richarddenniss.bsky.social. If protest wasn't effective, govts wouldn't try to ban it. And as much as politicians like to talk about parliamentary logjams, as soon as fossil capital is threatened, they mobilise with extraordinary rapidity and efficacy.

Our governments are dragging us over a cliff with no bottom.
A constant reminder that even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as they did during the pandemic lockdown from now to 2030, we still wouldn't meet our emission target to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
