The global forestry industry in its current form is nothing but a crime enterprise, destroying nature on an almost inconceivable scale for profit.

Reversing ecological breakdown means recognising and confronting that reality.
Unfortunately we practice the same here in British Columbia. Massive stands of old growth forests are decimated leaving scarred stumps as far as the eye can see. “We’ll replant, no worries.” Spindly trees does not a forest make. It’s heartbreaking. No one listens.

Climate crisis on track to destroy civilisation, warns top insurer from Allianz.

This has gone beyond so-called 'alarmists' (reality: truth tellers) Extinction Rebellion or Just Stop Oil saying it, to the very industry whose profits rely on predicting the future.

Yes, the West is guilty of totally disgusting double standards in (rightly) condemning Russian atrocities in Ukraine, while ignoring genocide in Gaza.

But with both Israel and the US now actively *supporting* Putin, surely it must be obvious to everyone that it's the exact same fascist supremacism?

BBC radio news said this morning: “environmental groups greeted the news with dismay”

Why only environmental groups?

Surely any sensible person on the planet?
“Five years ago, BP set the ambitious target to cut production of oil and gas by 40% by 2030

In 2023, the company lowered this reduction target to 25%

It is now expected to abandon it altogether”

You really can’t trust big oil, can you?

Trumpian mismanagement at Cardiff University. This is the final stage of neoliberalism: throwing around jargon on efficiency, competitiveness and investment while burning the earth.

Frankly, Nero was better than these lot. At least he made music, not neoliberal arglebargle.

This is truly shocking read.
The Cardiff executive board should hang their heads in shame.

Hundred percent this
On climate protest, a superb point from @richarddenniss.bsky.social. If protest wasn't effective, govts wouldn't try to ban it. And as much as politicians like to talk about parliamentary logjams, as soon as fossil capital is threatened, they mobilise with extraordinary rapidity and efficacy.

‘You can’t accuse TWBS of caring less. Every track on their second album is a retort, a legitimate wail, a Ken Loach storyline…It’s their best moment so far.’

Thank you to Stu Bailie of Dig With It for these words on our new album.

Our governments are dragging us over a cliff with no bottom.
A constant reminder that even if CO₂ emissions decreased annually as much as they did during the pandemic lockdown from now to 2030, we still wouldn't meet our emission target to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
