Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs.

(“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

Hello #HATM! I’m an AP Gov teacher from northern Illinois and I love this movie, although I must admit I don’t fully understand everything in it!

1.) T2
2.) One Second After by William Forstchen
3.) Cabbage and Bean soup!

This is my favorite part of shopping - the time when FedEx changes your delivery date from today to ???

I’d like AP to weigh in on whether, if a student wrote the final sentence in the VP’s tweet word for word, that last statement would be accepted as a factually accurate answer.

By building in scale, you can see how HUGE the Typhoon is. All the subs of the Alfa and Typhoon classes have been retired (or are in the decommissioning process). Los Angeles class subs still silently prowl the seas, a testament to their crews and construction.

The titular character, the Red October is a Typhoon and the biggest sub ever built. It holds nuclear-tipped missiles and is commanded by Marko Ramius, the USSR's most experienced commander. The plans to defect with his officers on the boat's maiden voyage.

The U.S. Los Angeles class U.S.S. Dallas. The 688 variant here is captained by Bart Mancuso and crewed by a world class crew. It saves the day more than once.

The Dallas here has the Mystic Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle attached, as in the movie.

The Alfa is shown for scale

The Soviet Alfa-class submarine "V.K. Konovalov". Commanded by Capt. Tupolev, the Alfa is small, highly automated, very fast, and can dive deep. Tupolev, like Capt. Ahab, is single-minded in his goal.

I appreciate that
@civics101pod.bsky.social used a Richard II quote in their extra credit email that references Deadwood (which I love) but I wonder if there are any West Wing superfans like me out there that know what episode and character that uses that quote?

Also, listen to Civics101.

These folding paper models are a nice change of pace!
January 2, 2025 at 4:59 AM
This is my first try on one of these anycubic models. Got the Titanic one for the holidays and have been working on it a little each day. Different skill set than regular “sprues and glues” modeling but still fun!

No more than the usual nonsense this time.

If you are driving about today, in a store, shopping or dining with people trying to get through their shift, I hope you’ll remember that your small kindnesses can be so helpful and important to people that are stressed.

I had a student win a contest and the Bill of Rights Institute sent me a coffee mug in this incredible box.

I’d love to see College Board and AP weigh in here on how AP Gov teachers should approach Topic 5.1’s essential knowledge in light of promised executive orders.

I’m excited to see what AP Gov content that AP thinks is stable enough to put on the May test.

Many of the modern cases are too situational or nuanced for a short description, and even how many cabinet departments there will be is uncertain.

#APGov220 File this in the Congress/Voting #apgov slideshows I have under the "every vote matters" heading, whether under the "phew we just barely won" or "Oh we were so close", depending on which candidate you supported.
