Starmer says the Amazon rainforest in “helping to regulate the climate for every person on earth”, while promoting biofuels and other false ‘solutions’ to the climate crisis at COP30.

Big corporations are profiting by burning the Amazon rainforest – where COP30 is being held – to grow palm oil plantations for ‘biofuels’, so-called ‘green’ fuel.

But producing these biofuels = deforestation, destroying biodiversity & encroaching on Indigenous territory.

We’ll be there, both inside and outside the talks, holding governments – from Brazil to the UK – to account.

We’ll be calling for a just transition to fairer societies built on renewable energy, strong public services and equality.

Thousands will gather in Belém, including at the People’s Summit, where Indigenous peoples, social and environmental movements, feminists, workers, youth, and communities will meet alongside the talks.

The last three COPs were held under authoritarian governments that shut down protest. We believe that this year is different.

Unions and grassroots groups in Brazil and beyond have been organising to centre people’s voices – both on the streets of Brazil and inside COP30.

Currently, global agreements & international cooperation are under strain.

The US has ignored International Criminal Court arrest warrants for Israel’s political leaders and stepped back from key climate commitments, like the Paris Agreement.

In this context, can COP30 deliver?
November 6, 2025 at 6:28 PM
We’ll push for solutions to climate and ecosystems collapse, poverty and inequality and a fair, just transition for all.

There’s still time to act:

At the UN Climate Summit #COP30, starting next week, we have an opportunity for change.

The UK must call for an end to false climate 'solutions' & back a transition away from fossil fuels that centres the needs of people & planet above profit.

Act now: secure.waronwant.org/page/180845/...

We must transition away from fossil fuels to tackle the climate crisis.

But if the replacements – like biofuels – harm the Amazon and its people, they are not an alternative: they are false climate ‘solutions’.

The UK built its wealth by polluting the planet – it must step up to protect people as the climate crisis worsens.

At the #COP30 climate talks the UK must push for urgent climate funding to help vulnerable communities prepare for disaster and to fund a just transition.

At the same time, our politicians are standing by whilst the world burns and seas warm.

Further “devastating consequences” are now inevitable as humanity misses the target to keep global heating below 1.5°C.
