I also think this is true.

Signed a KU fan.
Teams who decline bowl games after very successful seasons should be forced to have a 1-11 season to understand what actually bad football seasons are like and to appreciate what they have

Curious if this was a team vote situation. If so, understandable because of injury risk, etc. I do think this is the natural progression for a sport that has made the playoff *everything*.

Early thought processing about this but I'm basically on the opposite end of this. The playoff is now the "thing". If your true goal is the playoff, no reason to waste time and energy in pursuit of a meaningless game.
I miss the days when a snubbed team would be motivated to dominate its bowl game, prove people wrong and finish on a good note.

Ok, new goal due to this picture. We're going to close out 2025 strong.
Just making sure.

One reason I never got too far into the college game is because I was never going to succeed in that extremely cutthroat culture. Every little mistake is amplified in review and getting to this level would have taken every non real job minute of my life.

First time I've thought about this but it's either a huge home field advantage or just something that makes impossible tasks even harder. HFA simply due to those players being familiar with the sun angle due to BP at a similar time.
MLB absolutely loves scheduling playoff games at times that result in sun and shadows previously considered unimaginable at each stadium

The most stunning thing about Belichick's career collapsing and his reputation for anyone under 25 being recast as "horny old dude flaming out in six weeks at North Carolina" is that the football team that made the best decision to keep itself clean throughout this saga was the Atlanta Falcons

wrote a quick one about the tech companies settling lawsuits with Trump. Yes, it’s cowardice. But it’s also an excuse to behave the way they’ve always wanted to (irresponsibly, with no regard for the consequences of their actions). Which, actually makes them a perfect part of the MAGA coalition

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics.

The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.
