It can be hard to understand the scale these things have got to - we have 600,000 human users a month, but it had reached the point where for every single genuine human browsing a page, we had 7 or 8 bots much of the time.

It can be hard to understand the scale these things have got to - we have 600,000 human users a month, but it had reached the point where for every single genuine human browsing a page, we had 7 or 8 bots much of the time.
I'm sure they are not specifically. But I suspect any sites with popular forums get heavily targeted as the posts are a way of seeing how lots of different people speak and write. Certainly the bot signups we get have become very sophisticated and tend to post things about Scottish hillwalking.
