Just on a personal note, reporting this story broke my heart. Of all the unfathomable things Trump has done this year, putting SNAP recipients through this psychological hell tops the list. My endless gratitude to everyone who spoke to me. To all who who are suffering: I'm so sorry.

Bereans deserve care, not cuts. We deserve leaders who value our lives above enriching themselves and their wealthy donors.

If you aren’t willing to speak up now, what are you even doing here?

• When will you tell Rep. Andy Barr that he needs to fund health care subsidies, open the federal government, and stop hurting our people?
• When will you speak out against Trump’s cuts, corruption and cruelty that are causing so much unnecessary pain?

It doesn’t do any good to contact his office. So here I am asking for your help.
• What is your plan to protect Bereans whose lives are being turned upside down by Trump’s cuts and this shutdown?
• When will you speak out against the cuts to food stamps that are putting our families at risk?

Congressman Andy Barr does not answer our calls, does not hold in-person town hall meetings, and does not appear to care at all about the pain being caused to everyday Kentuckians by the GOP Mega Bill (which he voted for) and the federal government shut down now it its record-tying 35th day.

In fact, Rep Andy Barr feels so strongly that she and 100,000 other Kentuckians should be priced out of health insurance, he’s gone ahead and shut down the federal government rather than negotiate with the Democrats about ways to lower the cost of health insurance.

What are we doing here?

What are we doing here?

Meanwhile, my neighbor learned on Nov 1st that her health insurance is going up 230% from $425 to $1,400 per month - all because Rep Andy Barr and the Republicans in Congress refuse to re-authorize money that kept health care premiums almost affordable for working people.

As you know, nearly 600,000 KYians did not receive food stamps in November. This was a deliberate choice by the President. Yesterday a federal judge ordered the release of some funds. But it may take weeks or months for people to receive just half what their families were owed. Weeks or months!
