Whadjuk county.

Listen nipper, you got to have a go at it. Even if you know you can’t bloody win you still got to have a go.
I think you're forgetting, 2018 was the year of the Power Stance!

The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.

I'm not a Scomo apologist. But this was 2018.

I have now read the article and I’m very sorry to report, the only feeling you’re allowed is “Kids these days”.

The IDF has 'prisoners'. Hamas has 'hostages'. It is a distinction without a difference. Awful on all sides.

Yes, that isn't very good. But maybe it is the price we have to pay to protect our society from 21st century cigarettes.
July 31, 2025 at 7:25 AM
Sure. But it is not a reason not to try. It is like saying "people can easily speed, so there is no point having speed limits". For most kids current social media is not a social good. Let's at least try some speed limits.

This post is just trolling from the Independent. Quote taken out of context so we all rage click their paywall.

In the same para Minchin also says "You can still come to the conclusion that Gaza is a genocide..."

I reckon it was a multi.

He really needs to ask himself the question...

"What are you really gambling with?"
July 10, 2025 at 8:03 AM
Yep. The Vic cooperations rules used to really kick in when the candidates used the logo... which you would only really do somewhere along the Werribee or Broady train lines!

But it got very serious and they had to write it all down.
June 27, 2025 at 6:54 AM
Yep. You'd be ok in those sorts of places I reckon

(Except in NSW where they are always serious about endorsing everyone all the time - honestly exhausting)
June 27, 2025 at 6:49 AM
In my day (earlier this century) Vic didn't endorse candidates and they only declared themselves in Nth or West Melb. Regional Vic & outer suburbs candidates stayed quiet on their memberships.

In places where they did declare themselves they had to not overtly campaign against each other...
June 27, 2025 at 6:47 AM
My info may be expired, but NSW had very strict rules if there's an endorsed candidate in the field. Vic had quite strict rules if there are declared Labor members in the race. Qld, I imagine, would be like NSW if you're talking Brisbane. Serious sheep stations in that race.
June 27, 2025 at 6:43 AM
The rules and traditions vary wildly state by state. Where are we talking?
June 27, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Yes. Good. They are nasty.
June 24, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Or we could set a deadline and just get it done. We have lost a generation already. Why lose more kids?
June 24, 2025 at 4:20 AM
Good point. But to be fair that experience is not very long. We are only in the paddling pool of technology change. Most of us were alive before the internet was invented!
June 24, 2025 at 4:19 AM
Then maybe the (very) big company can split this good stuff from their not good stuff. As a business decision.
June 24, 2025 at 4:16 AM
Nothing is forever. Can't we just unhide them if we make a mistake in the deadline rush?
June 24, 2025 at 4:08 AM
I agree, I think it is the Government opening negotitions with YouTube.

Which is warrented because they have a big business and some of what they serve up is unsuitable for kids.

Eg YouTube Shorts is built as their TikTok. Maybe they start there.
June 24, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Yes. Of course I can't send them out there without Government assistance.

My kids walk through the park without danger (no murders) & catch a safe bus (road rules) and are taught well at school (education standards).

We'd be totally f****d without Government assistance. What are you talking about?
June 24, 2025 at 3:12 AM
You don't know what the Government is going to do. You're just guessing.

What they are doing right now is opening negotiations. Let's see how it goes.

Unlike you I trust this Government more than I trust that corporation.
June 24, 2025 at 3:06 AM
I love all the responses on here who assume the way YouTube works is the *only* way YouTube can work.

They've built it this way to make the most money.

Governments are allowed to tell them to do it differently.

And I promise you don't have to worry about them, they'll still make money.
June 24, 2025 at 3:04 AM
Are you imagining all these children are under 7?
June 24, 2025 at 3:00 AM
They're watching on the bus. What's that password?
June 24, 2025 at 2:59 AM
I am responsible for their access to the internet.

But a very large corporation is responsible for suggesting the next video they watch...

I am very happy for my Government to suggest that the corporation should be more careful with that recommendation.
