It really falls into the same category as minecraft and skyrim, where the base gameplay is serviceably fun, but it's so open ended and moddable that you can tweak it to your liking. This is like if minecraft included terrafirmacraft and also it was the gmod of survival games.

Like people can have positive opinions about something, I get why this game is the way it is and the kind of people it appeals to. But seeing a million "best game ever made" headlines directed at a game even people that like it told me is incredibly niche sure is something
