We had this when i worked for a telecoms company, insisting people came in early to make sure their PCs were powered up and all software loaded before they were due to start work. They soon had to retract that as they had no legal position to demand it.

Work the hours you are paid for. No more, unless your salary is higher with the expectation of occasionally having to work over to sort things out.

Had a few wetsuits over the years, Some are better than others, but the quality has definitely improved over the past decade or so.
