Witkoff saying that the overwhelming majority in the four Ukrainian regions (Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk) voted to be part of Russia is preposterous. The 2022 referendums were sham. The majority in Zaporizhzhia live in areas under Ukrainian rule where there was no referendum at all.
It’s clear from this that the only difference between Steve Witkoff’s and Vladmir Putin’s views on the war in Ukraine is that Putin actually knows the names of all the five Ukrainian regions he wants to keep.

Everyone is talking about sending troops ”for the ceasefire” but I think they mean ”after the ceasefire”. Technically the hardest part would be to actually GET a ceasefire. And there is no easy way to do it, since Russians will do all they can to avoid it (because of subsequent EU troops in Ukraine)

It's curious that people in the West somehow think that Russia is entitled to a sphere of influence. Granted, it has vast land area and nuclear bombs, but its army is in tatters, and its economy is the size of Spain's.
