try as he might, dean never wrote a better lyric than "I stood in line / and ate my Twinkies / I stood in line / I had to wait"

-- going to college
-- trawling the good record store and also the semi-shitty record store
-- listening to (and eventually DJing for) the college radio station
-- going to lots of shows, including for bands I'd never heard of
-- trading mixtapes with like-minded weirdos

has to be a really high price payable immediately -- promises not acceptable. fire rfk jr, grant kilmar abrego garcia citizenship, and release the full epstein files, that kind of thing.

the budget/CR is purely a leverage point, not a legislative exercise, and the Ds need to treat it that way

Jon Stewart should not run for president.

*Jimmy Fallon* should run for president. He would galvanize a mass movement of people turning up at his rallies to tell him he fucking sucks. It would be low-key amazing to see.

so then high-school students today would be doing paintings of mark arm I suppose

this match is 1989 in a nutshell

the classic-rock stations pushed the absolute hell out of "mixed emotions", and it was super tedious and very clearly time for something different

BLEACH remains a great album -- kurt had the sound and the attitude but also the songs, and that's why it works

I think no one outside the pacific northwest would ever have heard of any of those bands if not for NEVERMIND

there would be a K records retail store at seattle airport though
