I was at NASA/JPL's Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex (Mojave Desert), Deep Space Station-14 (aka Mars) when the Voyagers were launched. It takes an antenna like this to continue tracking Voyagers;

This was Ruby, a fine red/blue tick coon hound, rescued 15 years ago. We lost her 2 years ago and still miss her greatly.
