I still need someone to point me to a good explanation of how the Democrats need to FIX IMMIGRATION! What's so broken about allowing people to come here to make a better life for themselves while also making our country better? Not interested in: Repeating GOP lies about invasions and bankrupting US

It's probably good that the country is not so small and the government is not so centralized that this can only be done in the most fucked-up-by-dumbfucks jurisdictions instead of every single place in the country.
fellas, is it good when the ruling party requires public institutions to recruit for ideological youth cadres
New: Gov. Greg Abbott and Turning Point USA are launching a partnership to create chapters of the right-wing organization on every Texas high school campus.

"It's bad for the government when the government is forced to give wrongfully fired people their jobs back." This is the argument of the person trying to overturn a 90-year-old precedent that would in turn give Trump way more power.

Am I taking crazy pills?
Kav on reinstatement question: I have my doubts - courts SHOULD be able to reinstate officials wrongfully fired.

I don't know how to explain why the media doesn't freak out about the First Amendment when Donald Trump is talking like they would have freaked out anytime else in history if someone else was saying the same things Donald Trump is saying.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Achieving my dream of emigrating to Sweden – a country that probably would not take me – by process of losing my 4th-generation birthright citizenship and being deported there.
It really cannot be stressed enough that if we don’t have birthright citizenship we don’t have citizenship.

The only Americans who have any proof of citizenship are either naturalized adults or the tiny fraction of natural born citizens who are born abroad. Everyone else has birthright citizenship.

I am still not 100% sure if the link was direct for me, but I've been seeing doctors all year for the worst stomach pain of my life. Quitting pot seems to have been the solution for me, so go ahead and disregard all the replies being so sure of others' health conditions and symptoms.

DOGE is in no way a service. 'Burden' is much more appropriate.
As snow spreads across more of the U.S. and meteorological winter begins, the National Weather Service remains hampered by a staffing shortage, despite a Trump administration pledge to restore hundreds of positions cut by Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service.
Winter is coming. Not all weather offices are ready.
Vacancies remain in National Weather Service offices across the country, including in some of the coldest, snowiest parts of the country.

I'm pretty sure it was all of my grandparents' parents who immigrated, or maybe a generation before them. I have no idea if any of them were 'legal' other than being German and Scandinavian and not discriminated againstike other immigrants. Legal immigration for them was probably 'showing up.'

Every elected Republican was a united front opposing and criticizing everything Obama did for 8 straight years, even if it was a policy they fundamentally agreed with. Why. In the fuck. Is it asking too much for Democrats to do the same with a legitimate fascist?
Democratic voters are working hard to stop fascism. It would be nice if the leaders of the party joined them.
