here I was not 2.5 hours ago
facing West into the setting sun
in my father's tie and the suit of his son

when warmth through the window
tinted barely by a band of blue
brought me so distinctly back

to cricket at Adelaide Oval
facing West into the setting sun
and the smell of lager in a cup

can't fully articulate it but AFL score reviews reflect the worst aspects of our lives.
- deferrence to demonstrably unreliable technology
- added complexity to solve problems that needn't be solved (we accept a lot of other imperfections in AFL)
- goal umpire turned into a fully bullshit job

like what are we even doing here? Min-maxing the chance that you'll be alive for slightly longer than the average person. So what? Death is still coming for you whether it's at 104 or 84 or 64.

Just live, dammit! Eat, laugh, sleep, repeat.

Unless the human spirit is effectively curtailed (e.g. by distraction and control), the computers will always lag in mimicry. What matters is that we know and express ourselves.
