The existence of this bubble -- a place where marginalized populations could go to feel safe & accepted & joyful -- drove the wider patriarchal culture *insane*, so they attacked it & attacked it, made it a joke, dismissed it, marginalized it, killed it.

Despite years of effort by the Murdoch trolls, the UK still boasts the BBC, among the most trusted news institutions in the world.
