Our possible AAA #biking infra future looks less likely bc of oppo frm those with disabilities. Instead of 1 car parking lane replaced w/ a PBL we might get 0️⃣ for bikes, no parking removed & wider sidewalks. Are there examples of disability-friendly protected bike lanes? How 2 compromise? Ideas?

Maybe the could give him the IMPEACH prize tho. rlv.zcache.com/impeach_stic...

what? They don't want *any* parking removed. Whose job is it to tell them better bike infra is better for biz? How can those with disabilities give room for bikes? What about our climate action plan's "reduce VMT" goals? Must it be 🚲 vs.👨‍🦽? I was excited for better biking, now prospects look dim.😿

So do we just have no laws left?

bike lanes, noted problems crossing a busy state highway near UW-La Crosse & more. It was the most heavenly day ever with bikies, electeds, engineers from WisDOT, & even staffers from @baldwin.senate.gov & Rep Van Orden's local offices. Great ride, great day, great advocacy. If only we'd had GEESE!🪿

We had another AMAZING #WeekWithoutDriving event this morning! Our wonderful, active transport-friendly planners took us on a tour of commuter bike paths through our precious marsh, showed off some new bike signage, led us on a protected downtown bike path & iffy streets, looked at wonky painted

Has the @apnews.com caved too? Who would frame things this way?

accessible fishing pads (premiere trout-fishing creek), had a byo lunch & learned more about the community watershed council (this area was the 1st in nation watershed project (1933 soil erosion svc)). Wandered into town for ice cream & caught the full bus (which some want to kill off) back. Prima!

At the ribbon cutting for a new solar array at The Nature Place. Thanks to Couillard Foundation and many others, one more positive change.

A day at home = tomato basil soup (from this recipe: www.veganblueberry.com/wprm_print/3...) and, coming soon, Melitzanes Me Feta (eggplant with (vegan) feta). I'm only a tiny bit Greek by DNA, but Greek food is the best imo. Here's a recipe - easy. youtu.be/RgI-hN6Vfnc?...

Yesterday I rode to Aldi. No bike rack. Luckily, I have the magnificent Gazelle Arroyo C7 w/ click-lock & I live where a couple of minutes in a store should be ok. Inside, I asked how to request a bike rack & they said, "Oh, we HAVE a bike rack!" Submitted for your (dis)approval. Who ARE these ppl?

The good news: more ppl are picking stuff from our community victory garden so there's less for us to pick on weekly harvest days. We even got some corn from the transplanted doubles! Start a free garden. It doesn't have to be big or fancy. Cardboard, compost, leaves, wood chips, volunteers, seeds ❤️

Ok. Summer garden food ramping up now. Made my first batch of TABOULI! And soon I will find out if you can make good tzatziki sauce with oat milk yogurt. (But I cannot top Water Street Deli's hummus.)

It's CORN time. I grew 3 varieties with differing maturity dates in the backyard, but it appears they are all ripening at the same time. Now I can indulge in the perfect summer home-grown meal - corn, green beans, cuke-pepper-tomato-onion-garlic-basil salad & potato. Thankful for this bounty.🙏🌽🍅🌱🫑🥔🧄

Perseid meteor showers! ❤️❤️❤️🌠 Watching as a kid with relatives on top of a dark bluff, on a camping trip, in an NC farm field, by Lake Superior, in my back yard ... But, they are also the countdown to the end of summer. So, thrilled and sad. Watch the Perseids with your kids whatever you do!

Still at Irishfest. It's HOT🌡️! Eileen Ivers is cooking now. Next up Skerryvore.

I am volunteering at Irishfest. Hot but fun & heavenly music. One of my great great grandmothers came over from Limerick long ago & here I am.

I have a backyard corn bed with space for 64 corn plants if they all make it. Today, I tried an ear that looked like it was ready, but it could have used a few more days. You'd think by now I'd be able to tell, but my desire for corn overwhelms the reality. The good news: I have about 58 tries left.

This morning our city's Bike-Ped Advisory Committee hosted a Ride with the Mayor. I think at least 50 people showed up. We rode to and learned about various new projects, challenge spots like busy, often blocked railroad tracks or speeding traffic, and current plans. We need to do these more often!!

I can't sleep because the AccuWeather radar shows a big line of red (PLEASE don't let us get purple) storms coming our way and I'm going to have to close the window that's bringing cooler air into the house. Small in the scheme of things, I know.
